Amy Biniares

Amy is a 21-year-old screen composer based in Sydney, with a keen interest in music’s power to be emotionally evocative and its crucial role in storytelling. Currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Amy has experience with a broad range of styles and ensembles, but a particular strength for orchestral composition. She has experience composing for short films in the genres of drama, thriller, comedy, and children’s animation.

Outside of composition, Amy is a classical guitarist with more than 12 years experience, and is also a private tutor of guitar, piano, and percussion, having taught more than 100 students in 4 years.

Some of Amy’s notable compositional influences include Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, Michael Giacchino, and Danny Elfman. Though they each differ in their musical styles, Amy is intrigued by their ability to direct audiences’ emotions and shape a narrative, which has inspired her own practice.
